Photo used in Humble Bee story on E.L. Jordan, locomotive engineer at Baytown refinery. Blurred cotton-headed child climbing on cowcatcher is Jordan. He is an annuitant. Shay engines were conspicuous with the boiler off-set, vertical cylinders and pistons, and cog drive wheels. Engine sounded like it was running at high speed but made 4-10 mph. Built for slow speed and lots of pulling power to pull long trains of logs over steep East Texas hills.
