Raising telephone and telegraph poles, circa 1919; Humble Pipe Line Company crew raising poles through the swamp in Wooster area. Pole-line construction during these early days was done principally by hand with the use of simple tools: pike poles, pulleys, and a great deal of physical effort. Telephone and telegraph lines were strung from the Refinery and Goose Creek field to the Houston office circa 1919.
