The ship, Corpus Christi Bay, circa 1966; The Corpus Christi Bay (ex-Albermarle) was built as a large seaplane tender. Laid down on June 12, 1939, launched on July 13, 1940, commissioned on December 20, 1940. She was modernized in 1956-1957 and subsequently converted to a helicopter repair ship in 1964-1965. Renamed Corpus Christi Bay on March 27, 1965.
