Quack Shack grand opening, June 1944; "A. The first couple to enter the canteen Kirk Busch and Dot Wismer hand their tickets to Willena Latapie on the left. B. The Tri-City Junior Chamber of Commerce and local officials are sponsoring a summer canteen for 'teen age boys and girls in the high school gymnasium. Here are a few Jaycees Jaycee-ettes and school board members at the Quacker Box bar where soft drinks are sold. Left to right: Gene Bauer, Mrs. C.A Long, Mrs. Bauer, Jaycee President C.A. Long, Mrs. Tommy Cook, Mr. Cook, and Dr. N.S. Holland superintendent of schools. C. The canteen is called the Quack Shack ."
