The old Oiler Theater was one of the favorite spots in “New Town” in the early 1920s. It was located on what is now the southeast corner of N. Commerce and Defee. In the mid 1920s, Humble began running a twice weekly train from old Baytown called the "Theater Special." The Oiler Theater burned and the Texas Theater was built in its place.
